4 Best Porsches of Luftgekühlt 4

Luftgekühlt 4 was one of my first major car meets back in my hometown of Los Angeles, California. One of my close friends, Chris Garcia (@christhecarguy), had convinced me to make the trek down to Long Beach for the event the day after my 21st birthday. Needless to say that was a tough morning. One banging headache and rainy drive later I was there, air cooled Porsches out numbering other cars 2 or 3 to 1. The event was one I'll never forget, and here are four of the cars I will never forget.

1. 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6

The images really do speak for themselves on this one, the vehicle has beautiful curves in all the right places. The Carrera 6 was the last street legal race car ever made by Porsche.

2. 1976 Porsche 934

One of around 400 934s Porsche ever made, this beautiful model comes fully furnished in a brilliant, orange Jägermeister livery.

3. 1952 Porsche-Glöckler 356 Weidenhausen Roadster #44

The leather straps, silver coloring, subtle curves; this Porsche has it all. It was original created as a collaboration with Walter Glöckler, a VW dealer turned race car driver in post-war Frankfurt.

4. Porsche 959 Canepa Gen III in Emerald Green

While calling a car with water cooled heads is certainly stretching the definition of "air cooled," this substantially upgraded 959 did not disappoint. The car was perfectly lit, but unfortunately had gathered quite a crowd.
