Descroll privacy

Effective October 13, 2026 · Descroll version 1.1.1

This policy describes the Descroll Chrome extension only. It does not describe the tjlvn.com website or the Squarespace service used to host this page; those have separate privacy practices.

Descroll applies one local browsing fault to websites you enable. It requires no account and does not contact a Descroll server. It includes no analytics, advertising, external fonts, or remote executable code.

Local data and page access

When you open the popup, Descroll reads the address of the active tab to identify its website. It uses the scheme and hostname to check whether that website is enabled. When you enable a website, Descroll saves only that site identifier and an enabled setting in Chrome's local extension storage. These preferences are not intentionally synchronized through Chrome Sync. Existing settings are migrated by discarding old mode, interval, and pause fields while retaining enabled sites.

While running on an enabled page, Descroll processes wheel and scroll signals, scroll positions, element dimensions, and layout information such as whether an element can scroll. It uses these signals only to choose and apply the page's fault. The fault draw, randomized trigger, visible-time and scroll-distance progress, and repair state remain in that page's memory only. Descroll does not save page text, messages, search queries, passwords, a scroll history, usage statistics, fault draws, or repair events. It does not transmit this page information to Descroll or third parties. Visual effects use an extension-owned, pointer-transparent overlay and do not rewrite or save page content. A reload resets the draw, trigger progress, and repair state.

Page access is necessary to affect scrolling or rendered colors. A Chrome site permission is broader than the measurements Descroll uses: it applies to the granted scheme and hostname, including paths and ports according to Chrome's matching rules. Separate subdomains require separate grants. Website contents and browsing data are not transmitted by Descroll; websites continue to make their own network requests normally.

Descroll uses the information described here only to provide its stated purpose. Its handling of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Your controls

Sites are off by default. You enable or disable the current site in the extension popup. Disabling removes the saved setting and corresponding host permission. Repair until reload in the popup cancels a pending fault or restores ordinary behavior for the current document until it is unloaded. There is no on-page control surface, pause, or configurable fault setting. You can also manage extension access in Chrome settings or uninstall the extension.

This policy will be updated if Descroll's data practices change. Any future diagnostics, telemetry, synchronization, or payment service would require updated disclosures and user controls.
